Thank You / Useful Links

There were, and there still are, so many people having helped us realizing this project.

We may be forgiven if we forgot to mention you here, but rest assured, you are still in our mind and our heart. Many people even do not know that they helped, but all the information shared on their blogs and websites is worthwhile every minute reading.

  • Ed and Christine from MV Destiny. For four months we had our boats lying next to each other at DB Marina. Ed taught and helped me a lot… and together we would have been able to open a chandlery shop.
  • Unfortunately our boat designer, George Buehler, has passed away and I will not be able to thank him personally for the great design. But for those of you who are interested, many more boat plans are available at the George Buehler Design website.
  • Dylan from OBMG: Thank you for the patience with me and Seahorse Marine. The decision to outsource all electric and electronic equipment did not come cheap, but therefore I have reliable and modern appliances and gadgets on board.
  • Michael from Gardnermarine: All my questions answered promptly, always a helping hand in the background.
  • Wayne has also a Gardner 6LXB installed on his yacht “Möbius”. It was X’mas holidays when I reached out to him to ask about advice of how to add the calorifier to the engine cooling circuit. The answer came promptly… thanks a lot. Hopefully we run into each other in a beautiful anchorage and have a laugh when sharing the excitement of having a custom made yacht being built. Very informative blog!
  • Anders whose very well equipped Diesel Duck Sedan was lying in Hong Kong for a long time. Lot’s of information given about boat, shipyard and gadgets.
  • Jeff, who has sailed his Diesel Duck across the Pacific against prevailing wind. Thank you sharing your thoughts.
  • Neville and Glenys for sharing their cookbook recipes, adventures and SatCom setup on their blog “thehowarths.net”
  • On “Cruiserforum” you can find lot’s of information. Unfortunately sometimes posts in this kind of forum earn harsh and rude comments.
  • Latest information about cruising can be found on “Noonsite”. Unfortunately it just has become a website which requires subscription if you want to look up more than three countries a month.
  • OpenCPN” for sharing it’s free Navigation tools. So far I only had glimpses at the possibilities… I cannot foresee yet whether I will run OpenCPN as backup navigation on my laptop, but it nice to know that there is the option if I want to.
  • Paul Higgins for creating the wonderful tool “Sat2Charts” to transform satellite images into map tiles to be used with above mentioned OpenCPN. I haven’t used it yet… but rest assured, before setting off into less charted waters I will install, download and use satellite images running as backup to eyeball navigation. Paul, I will donate once I start using your precious software!
  • The creator of “Farkwar“, where I post our position with a simple email. Wonderful!
